WA health entities must take steps to ensure staff are adequately informed, trained and qualified if they are to use or implement AI systems for work purposes, reflecting the organisation's current and intended use cases and aligning with the acceptable use and ethics principles sections of the standard. They identify the training and skills their workforce needs to support and deliver services based on AI systems, which may include a general understanding of AI systems; the responsible, ethical and legal use of AI; the skills to interact with and interpret AI-generated insights; the training or qualifications for specialised roles such as clinical validation or data management; capability in areas responsible for governance such as clinical governance, ethical review and local ICT governance or support; the knowledge to identify and respond to risks associated with AI systems; and the knowledge to identify and respond to changes in the regulatory environment. Copies of local education and awareness strategies are provided to the System Manager on request.
