Having prepared the SWMS, the employer or self-employed person may only carry out the high risk construction work in line with it: the control measures and implementation steps it describes must be what happens on site. For asbestos removal or disturbance, following the r 272 asbestos control plan counts as following the SWMS as regards the risk of breathing airborne asbestos fibres (r 327(3)(b)).
