Where HRCSW involves quarrying or tunnelling, the employer or self-employed person concerned must, before the work starts, take samples of the materials that will be used in that process and have a suitably competent person analyse them to establish the proportion of crystalline silica in each sample. The results must appear in the CSHCS (r 319D(d)). Act compliance is through ss 21, 23 and 24.
