Work or any activity with a Schedule 10 (prohibited) carcinogen is allowed only in a laboratory, and only by a person who holds a licence under Part 6.1 to use that substance at that laboratory or who is employed by such a licence holder. Work or activity with a Schedule 11 (restricted) carcinogen, whether in a laboratory or at any other workplace, is allowed only by a person who holds a Part 6.1 licence to use it at that particular laboratory or workplace, or is employed by the holder. A supplier needs no carcinogens licence for a scheduled carcinogen kept sealed in a container not intended for opening on its premises. Section 40(4) of the Act is the related offence.
