US Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Regulation F (12 CFR Part 1006) 1692i: Sue consumers only where the real property is located or where the consumer signed the contract or resides

A collector suing a consumer on a debt must, when enforcing a security interest in real property, sue only in the judicial district where the property is located, and for any other action only in the judicial district where the consumer signed the contract or resides when the action begins. Nothing in the Act authorises collectors to bring legal actions.
