Member States are encouraged to use AI to preserve and make accessible tangible, documentary and intangible heritage, including endangered and Indigenous languages, and to assess the cultural impact of language technologies such as translation and voice assistants on nuance and on endangered languages and dialects. They should support AI education for artists, awareness among local cultural industries and small firms to avoid market concentration, engage technology companies so recommendation algorithms raise the visibility of local content, research AI and intellectual property (protection of AI-generated works and effects on owners whose works are used to train AI), and encourage museums, libraries and archives to use AI to open their collections.
