UK MoD JSP 936 Dependable AI in Defence Part 1: Directive (V1.1, 2024) 56-58: Responsibility: name responsible persons through the governance chain and articulate human involvement for every context of use

What does 56-58 require?

People, not machines, stay responsible and answerable for using AI lawfully and ethically; the governance chain ensures responsible persons are identified at the right levels for every contributing factor across the lifecycle, such as the correctness of machine learning data, with their responsibilities agreed. For all agreed contexts of use an overall articulation states where people are involved in a way fitting the context and who in the end carries responsibility and accountability; when a context of use changes, the manner of control and the lines of responsibility are re-examined.
