No entity may engage or attempt to engage in market manipulation: trades or orders giving false or misleading signals or fixing artificial prices, fictitious devices or deception, spreading false information or rumours, manipulating benchmarks, cornering supply or demand, marking the close, disruptive or misleading order entry on trading venues, trading on undisclosed conflicts after voicing opinions in media, failing to correct such conduct, or distributing software designed for it; individuals deciding for a legal entity are also caught. Accepted practices include legitimate lending, repo, collateral transactions, meeting prior obligations and non-disruptive algorithmic or high-frequency trading.
