After considering the notification the chief inspector may register the premises as an MHI subject to conditions, record its particulars in the register and issue a registration certificate within 60 days, or refuse with reasons; the duty holder displays the latest registration certificate conspicuously. Registration is valid for five years, or the period the chief inspector sets, unless suspended or revoked earlier, and is renewed on the updating of the risk assessment and required documents and payment of the renewal fee. Where any particular of a registered major hazard installation alters, the duty holder furnishes the alteration to the chief inspector, the provincial operations chief director and the local government within 14 days.
