The data subject, or the supervisory authority, may restrict the controller's processing for a given period where the accuracy of the data is contested pending verification, where processing is unlawful and the data subject requests erasure or restriction of use, or where the data subject has objected pending verification whether the controller's legitimate grounds override; restriction does not apply where processing is necessary to protect another person's rights or for public interest reasons; before lifting a restriction imposed for an accuracy dispute the controller must inform the data subject in writing or electronically.
