Importers may only place conforming products on the market and beforehand must ensure the manufacturer applied the conformity assessment, drew up the technical documentation, affixed the CE marking, supplied the required documents and met its identification and contact duties; that the importer's own name, trade name or mark and contact address appear, including in Portuguese; that Portuguese instructions and safety information accompany the product; that storage and transport do not compromise conformity; and that a copy of the declaration is kept available for five years and the technical documentation can be produced on request. Non-conforming products are kept off the market until they conform, with the manufacturer and the market surveillance authorities informed, and the manufacturer's corrective action, register and cooperation duties apply to importers too.
