Philippines Occupational Safety and Health Standards R1080: Rule 1080 Personal protective equipment: furnished at the employer's expense wherever hazards require, of approved design, maintained by the employer, nobody exposed without protection, with specific requirements for eye and face, respiratory, head, hand and arm protection, safety belts, lifelines and nets and safety shoes

What does R1080 require?

Every employer furnishes, at the employer's own expense, protection for eyes and face, for hands and for feet, together with protective shields and barriers, whenever a hazardous process or environment, or chemical, radiological or mechanical irritants or other hazards, could injure or impair any part of the body, with deductions for loss or damage governed by the Labor Code. Every item is of an approved design and build suited to the exposure and the work, the employer answers for its adequacy and upkeep, and nobody is exposed to a hazardous environment unprotected. Eye and face protection is required wherever flying objects, liquids, injurious radiation or glare are reasonably probable, meeting the minimum requirements and the corrective-lens options of Rule 1082; respiratory protection follows Rule 1083, head protection Rule 1084, hand and arm protection Rule 1085, safety belts, lifelines and safety nets Rule 1086 and safety shoes Rule 1087.
