Oregon adopts the federal fall protection systems criteria and practices (1926.502), so every fall protection system the Oregon rules require is provided and installed before the employee begins the work that needs it and meets the criteria for guardrail systems (top rail height and strength, midrails, toeboards), safety net systems (placement, clearance, drop testing, inspection), personal fall arrest systems (component strength, anchorage capacity, free fall and deceleration limits, inspection and prompt rescue), positioning device systems, warning lines, controlled access zones, safety monitoring, covers (twice the maximum load, secured, marked) and falling object protection; the federal duty section (1926.501) and training section (1926.503) were repealed in Oregon in favour of 437-003-1501 and 437-003-0503.
