A person must not sell to a consumer in New South Wales a gift card with an expiry date earlier than three years after the sale, and a seller or redeemer must not impose any administrative charge or fee that reduces the redeemable value after the sale (maximum penalty 50 penalty units each); a term inconsistent with the Part is void, the expiry date must be displayed on the card, and the exemptions in section 58M and the regulations (for example cards supplied for promotional purposes or for a particular good or service) apply.
