NIST SP 800-88 Rev 2 4.3.5: Consider the data protection level alongside organisational control when deciding whether sanitization is necessary

What does 4.3.5 require?

Different parts of an organisation can apply different data protection policies to information at the same confidentiality category: sales staff need no access to proprietary source code and schematics, engineers no access to customer PII, and each set carries different internal and external rules on necessary controls. The data protection level therefore complements the question of organisational control, and both are considered when identifying whether sanitization is necessary.
