Clause 3.3 Planning and implementation: initial review, objectives, HIRARC, emergencies, change, procurement, contracting – MS 1722:2011 Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems Requirements

MS 1722:2011 Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems Requirements 3.3.3.3: Risk control in the order elimination, control at source, safe systems of work and administrative measures, then a personal protective equipment programme for residual risk, implemented to an acceptable level

What does 3.3.3.3 require?

When deciding how to control a risk, the organisation must give priority in this order: eliminate the hazard or risk; control it at source by engineering controls or organisational measures; minimise it by designing safe work systems including administrative measures; and where collective measures cannot control the residual risk, provide an appropriate personal protective equipment programme. Controls must be established and implemented so that risks are managed to an acceptable level.
