MCMC MTSFB TC G017:2021 Cloud Service Providers Selection (Malaysia) G.2: Verify provider reliability, disaster recovery and performance monitoring

What does G.2 require?

The subscriber makes sure the provider has set up, documented and proven its handling of planned and unplanned downtime, customer communication included, and knows the remedies and liability limits offered when issues arise. It discusses disaster recovery provisions and processes with the provider and their ability to meet its data preservation expectations, recovery time and recovery point objectives included, covering critical data and its sources, scheduling, backups, restores and integrity checking; confirms the provider has documented roles, responsibilities and escalation; and considers additional risk insurance, such as cybersecurity insurance, where the provider's terms leave recovery costs uncovered. It monitors provider performance through tangible, objectively defined metrics stated in the SLA, drawn from measures such as throughput, reliability, availability, latency, load balance, durability, elasticity, linearity, agility, automation and customer service response times.
