The controller submits the DPO accreditation application through the Unit's website; the Council decides within one month of a complete application and notifies the applicant within seven working days. Accreditation lasts two years and is renewable on the controller's request at least 30 days before expiry; it is revoked on expiry without renewal, loss of eligibility, the DPO's resignation or the controller's request, or a reasoned Council decision.
