ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148:2018 - Systems and Software Engineering - Requirements Engineering 6.5.3.2: 6.5.3.2 Requirements activities in preparing for validation

The project sets what validation will cover and the actions that go with it; for software that means naming the characteristics of the system, element or artifact under validation and the results expected. When the system of interest is itself one element within a bigger system, that bigger system's operational concept and its baselined stakeholder requirements are part of what validation covers.
