A process is repeatable when the same procedure, method and instruments under the same conditions give the same results at any later time. Another DEFR of comparable skill and experience, working only from the written record, should arrive at identical results with nobody explaining it to them. Where repeating is impossible (an original drive copied and put back into service, or volatile memory), the DEFR makes sure the acquisition process itself is reliable. Quality control and process documentation are in place to make repeatability possible.
