Relevance is met by being able to show that each item acquired holds information useful to the specific incident and that there was good reason to take it, with the DEFR able to describe the procedure followed and how each decision to acquire was reached. Reliability is met when every handling process can be audited and repeated and its results reproduced. Sufficiency is met when the DEFR has considered whether enough was gathered for a proper investigation and can say, through audit and justification, how much material was considered overall and how the amount and choice of material acquired were decided (by collection, acquisition or both). The four aspects of handling are auditability, justifiability, and repeatability or reproducibility as circumstances allow.
