ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection A.1: Type A: third-party inspection body independence

What does A.1 require?

A Type A body stands apart from every party involved. Neither it nor its staff do anything that could compromise independent judgement and integrity: in particular they do not design, manufacture, supply, install, purchase, own, use or maintain what they inspect, although sharing technical information with clients and using items for the body's own operations or for personal use is permitted. The body is not inside a legal entity doing those things, and is not tied to a separate legal entity doing them through shared ownership, owner-appointed board members, a common reporting line to the same senior management, or contracts, unless none of these links is capable of affecting an inspection result.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 1 controls across 1 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
