ISO 8000 - Data Quality 61:5.1: 5.1 The basic structure of the data quality management process

Data quality management is built from three processes: Resource Provision, Data-Related Support and Implementation (Figure 1, adapted from the primary, support and organizational processes of ISO 12207:1995 and from the ISO 9001 PDCA cycle). Implementation runs on Plan-Do-Check-Act so that data quality keeps improving; Data-Related Support makes Implementation possible by supplying data management information and technology; Resource Provision makes both more effective and efficient by supplying resources and training at organization level. The same cycle can be used to improve any lower-level process: in Plan the strategy and implementation plans needed to meet data requirements are set; in Do the processes are carried out; in Check data quality and process performance are monitored and measured against the strategy and requirements and the results reported; and in Act action is taken to keep improving process performance.
