ISO 55001:2024 8.3: Externally provided processes, products, technologies and services

What does 8.3 require?

The organization makes sure that processes, technologies, products, services and activities it obtains from outside and that bear on the asset management system are under control, with their risks and opportunities taken into account, and are built into its own system. It settles (a) which of them are obtained externally, their scope and limits, and where they meet its own processes, technologies, products, services and activities; (b) who inside the organization is responsible for, and has authority over, managing them; and (c) the processes and extent of knowledge and information sharing between it and its external providers. It makes sure these external contributions satisfy what clauses 7 and 8 require of them, are monitored under 9.1, and agree with the asset management plans of 6.2 and with the SAMP.
