The organization should consider surveys to gain insight into organizational culture, OH&S performance in relation to internal and external issues, the needs of interested parties, the work environment, health and well-being, and how effective processes and controls are perceived to be. Surveys can be folded into existing employee surveys and run at various organizational levels and with whichever interested parties the topic concerns. The organization should consider anonymous surveys where appropriate, for sensitive topics (the working environment, psychological safety and health, psychosocial factors, how effective leadership is, working practices that may be unsafe). Surveys can quantify an issue, show whether a concern is isolated or widespread, and yield qualitative information through open questions.
