After analysing and evaluating the results the organization should prioritise actions, considering for example the potential impact on OH&S performance, fulfilment of OH&S legal and other requirements, alignment with the organization's strategic direction, chances to improve the way OH&S is managed, and what external assessments of OH&S performance found and what follows from them, such as contractual requirements, government recognition or achieving or keeping a certification. The standard's example is a logistics organization that, finding a rise in road traffic accidents without a rise in worker injuries, analyses causes, sets up a task force in which drivers and managers consider collision sensors and fatigue warning systems, compares the cost with the expected reduction in incidents, appoints a member of top management to see the improvements through, involves purchasing staff in future vehicle criteria, and uses targeted worker consultation to show commitment to workers' health, safety and well-being.
