ISO 37000:2021 6.5.1: Principle

What does 6.5.1 require?

The governing body should show that it is accountable to the whole organization and should call its delegates to account. It may delegate, but it stays answerable for what the organization as a whole does, fails to do or overlooks. Its responsibilities come from law, ethical norms, accepted practice, member and reference stakeholders, and delegation; its authority is given to it either directly by member stakeholders or indirectly by society, through law or a social licence to operate.
