Actuators are verified for intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse through requirement-based tests of accuracy, resolution, timing and bandwidth, characteristics within the vehicle or on a test bench, tests under environmental and load conditions, ageing verification, in-the-loop and vehicle tests on SOTIF scenarios, architectural independence checks and re-simulation. Where actuation can be argued to have no functional insufficiencies or triggering conditions, tests under ISO 26262 or domain standards can suffice.
