ISO 20400:2017 - Sustainable Procurement 7.4.3: Managing tenders

What does 7.4.3 require?

A pre-tender briefing can confirm that suppliers grasp what is expected of them commercially and on sustainability, and encourage joint proposals between complementary firms; every evaluation criterion, the evaluation method and the way benefits will be assessed should be settled before the tender goes out and communicated clearly; criteria can be assessed through minimum requirements, weighting, cost calculation methods and monetised impacts; a contract can be awarded conditional on reaching a minimum standard within a time frame; abnormally low prices can reflect social and environmental shortcomings, and without robust prequalification and tender criteria the organization undermines its own policies.
