Preventive maintenance programmes shall follow the manufacturer's instructions, and any departure from them shall be recorded. Equipment shall be kept safe to work with, covering electrical safety, emergency stop devices and the handling of hazardous materials. Equipment that is faulty or outside specification shall be withdrawn from use and labelled, and brought back only once verified; the effect of the fault on earlier work shall be examined and nonconforming work actions started. Before servicing, repair or decommissioning, equipment shall be decontaminated, with adequate space and protective equipment made available.
