Documented information that the environmental management system and this document call for shall be controlled so that it can be found and used where and when it is needed, and so that it is properly protected, for instance against loss of confidentiality or integrity or against misuse. Where relevant the organization shall deal with: how it is distributed, accessed, retrieved and used; how it is stored and preserved, legibility included; how changes are controlled, for example through versioning; and how long it is kept and how it is disposed of. Documented information from outside sources that the organization judges necessary for planning and running the system shall be identified where appropriate and brought under control.
