ISO 10006:2003 4.1.2: Organizations: originating and project organization

The originating organization is the one that decides to carry out the project; it may be one organization, a joint venture or a consortium, and it hands the project to a project organization, and where it runs several projects each can be given to a separate project organization. The project organization performs the project and may sit inside the originating organization. How responsibility and authority are divided between the two, which the third edition covers at this point, is dealt with in 5.2.6 of this edition.
