For an unobstructed forward approach, an example of each operable part type is mounted from 380 mm to 1 220 mm off the floor. Where a built-in obstruction is in the way, knee and toe space must extend under it at least as far as the reach needed; a reach over less than 510 mm may go up to 1 220 mm, and over 510 mm to under 635 mm only up to 1 120 mm. Under-unit access space is at least 760 mm wide; toe space under 230 mm high is 430 mm to 635 mm deep and reaches at most 150 mm beyond the obstruction, while knee space between 230 mm and 685 mm high runs 280 mm to 635 mm deep at the lower height and at least 205 mm at the upper, narrowing no faster than 25 mm per 150 mm.
