The length of basic nursing education should relate to the entry requirements and purposes of training, with two approved levels: an advanced level training professional nurses for the most complex care and for organising and evaluating care (entrants ideally with university-entry general education), and a less advanced level training auxiliary nurses for less complex general care (entrants with as much secondary education as possible). The Annex asks for bridging general education where access to schooling is limited.
