A leader in the organization (an executive, chief officer or the person responsible for the unit developing the system; in a very small entity the owner) sets strategic policy and enables the work. The role's responsibilities are to secure the organization's commitment to age appropriate products and services; help project teams uphold age appropriate priorities; resolve conflicts between strategies and those priorities; uphold them across the system's life cycle; direct the communication with the leaders of customer organizations, and of those deploying or acquiring the system, about age appropriate outcomes and technical design decisions; receive concerns about project decisions from team members and stakeholders and direct the response; communicate with the board, with shareholders, with customers and with the team regularly and as needed; and foster a culture in which age appropriate priorities run from hiring values through to the core business model.
