Part 1, Clause 7: Overall safety lifecycle – IEC 61508:2010 - Functional Safety of E/E/PE Safety-related Systems

IEC 61508:2010 - Functional Safety of E/E/PE Safety-related Systems 1-7.2.2: Part 1, 7.2.2 Concept: requirements

To understand the EUC (equipment under control) together with its physical and legislative environment well enough for later lifecycle work, the organisation must become thoroughly familiar with the EUC, its control functions and physical environment; determine likely hazard sources, hazardous situations and harmful events; gather information on those hazards (such as duration, intensity, toxicity, exposure limits, mechanical force, explosive conditions, reactivity and flammability); gather the applicable national and international safety regulations; consider hazards arising from interaction with other installed or planned equipment, systems and EUCs; and document all of this.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 1 controls across 1 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
