Lasers that produce or amplify radiation at wavelengths between 180 nm and 1 mm are subject to the applicable IEC 60825-1 requirements, laser light barriers and similar products within the equipment also complying with it, and compliance is checked by the procedures of that standard; medical laser products of class 3B or 4 are additionally subject to IEC 60601-2-22.
