ICC Incoterms 2020 - International Commercial Terms DAP: Delivered at Place (insert named place of destination)

What does DAP require?

Delivery happens, and risk passes, when the goods are put at the buyer's disposal on board the vehicle that brought them, ready to be unloaded at the destination named in the term or the agreed spot within it. The seller bears every risk of getting the goods there, so delivery and arrival are the same event, and must book or organise carriage to that spot (its own vehicles may be used); if it fails to, it is in breach and liable for any resulting loss, such as onward carriage the buyer has to pay for. Unloading is not the seller's job, and unloading costs it incurs under its carriage contract cannot be charged separately unless agreed. The seller clears for export only; the buyer handles import clearance and any transit after delivery and pays import duty, and if the buyer does not arrange import clearance and the goods are held at the port of entry, the risk of loss there falls on the buyer under B3(a). If the seller is to clear the goods for import, DDP should be used.
