Before deciding to rework, the organization uses risk analysis such as FMEA to judge the risks the rework process carries; where the customer requires it, the customer's approval is gained before rework begins. A documented process checks reworked product, using the control plan or other applicable documented information, to confirm it meets the original specification. Instructions for disassembly and rework, including requirements for re-inspection and traceability, are available to and followed by the relevant staff. Documented information on how reworked product was dispositioned is kept, recording quantity, disposition, date and traceability data.
