Resources are supplied for designing, fabricating and verifying tools and gauges used for production, service and bulk materials. A system manages production tooling, whichever of the organization or the customer owns it, and covers: facilities and staff for maintenance and repair; storage and recovery; set-up; programmes for changing perishable tools; documentation of tool design changes, including the product's engineering change level; changes to tools and the revision of related documents; and identification of each tool, showing its status (production, repair or disposal), who owns it and where it is. The organization confirms that tools, manufacturing equipment and test and inspection equipment owned by the customer carry a permanent, visible mark showing the owner and the use of each item, and it monitors any outsourced tooling work.
