Auditoria, cinemas, concert halls, stadia, games halls, lecture and conference halls must give everyone, including persons with a disability, safe and convenient access to the seating area, the stage and the backstage facilities. Up to 800 fixed seats call for at least four wheelchair spaces at spectator level, with two more for each further 400 seats or part of that; the spaces are grouped at least in pairs, kept among the general seating rather than apart from it, each has an unobstructed sightline to where the relevant activity happens, each measures at least 800 mm by 1300 mm with the 800 mm side facing the stage, and the passage from an accessible entrance to a space is at least 1500 mm wide; readily removable seats may fill a space when no wheelchair user needs it. A further obligatory item requires wheelchair users to have access to the stage and backstage facilities. The Best Practice Section covers companion seating and distribution across price ranges.
