When other substances are applied to soil, water or hydroponic and fertigation systems (for example growth promoters, soil conditioners, pH adjusters, or remedies bought in or made on the farm), records give the substance, crop, field, date and quantity; for bought products they also give the trade name and the active substance or main source (plant, algae, mineral). Where a registration scheme exists the substance must be approved under it; where registration is not required the producer makes sure the use does not put food safety at risk, and ingredient details are recorded when available.
