Water management should be supported with metrics: at minimum the total monthly water used in production in cubic metres per site per month with the amount abstracted from each source, optionally monthly irrigation water per hectare, referred to sources (excluding rainwater), growing cycles and water per kilogram of product and per hectare; producer groups may hold the data at QMS level with results at group and farm level.
