On request, the controller confirms whether data are processed and provides the data and categories, available information on origin, purposes and legal basis, recipients (particularly in third countries), storage period or criteria, the rights to rectification, erasure and restriction, the complaint right and the Commissioner's contact details. Exceptions cover retention-only or monitoring data with disproportionate effort, requests without locating information, and the s 56(2) grounds. Refusals or restrictions are communicated in writing without delay, with reasons unless that would defeat the purpose, and the data subject is told they may exercise access through the Federal Commissioner, complain or go to court; the factual and legal reasons are documented.
