Germany Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) S18: EU declaration of conformity: content, exceptions, model structure, German translation and single declaration

What does S18 require?

Before placing on the market a product whose conformity has been shown under Annex 2, the manufacturer issues an EU declaration of conformity stating that the requirements are demonstrably met and, where sections 16 or 17 were used, which requirements the exception affects. It follows the model in Annex III of Decision No 768/2008/EC, contains the Annex 2 elements, is kept up to date and is translated into German; where several Union acts require a declaration a single one covering all of them, with their references, is issued.
