EU REACH Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) XVII-74: Diisocyanates: train industrial and professional users before use and label supply for professional use

What does XVII-74 require?

Diisocyanates at 0.1 % or more, individually and combined, may be used industrially or professionally only if the employer or self-employed person ensures that each user, including supervisors, has successfully completed training on safe use before use (from 24 August 2023), and may be supplied for such uses only if the supplier gives the recipient information on the training requirement and the packaging carries, visibly distinct, the statement that adequate training is required before industrial or professional use (from 24 February 2022). Training, delivered by an occupational safety and health expert, covers control of dermal and inhalation exposure at general, intermediate or advanced level depending on the use (for example spraying or handling warm formulations needs the advanced elements), must comply with the Member State's own rules, must be documented by the employer, and must be renewed at least every five years; the supplier must make training material and courses available in the official languages where it supplies, taking account of its products' composition, packaging and design.
