Operators must pass on the information needed for non-prepacked food so the receiving operator can give the consumer the mandatory particulars when required. For prepacked food marketed before the final consumer stage, or supplied to mass caterers for preparation, processing or portioning, the mandatory particulars must appear on the prepackaging, on a label, or on commercial documents that accompany the food or arrive before or with delivery; the name, date, storage conditions and operator details must also appear on the external packaging. Operators supplying other businesses must give them enough information to meet their own obligations.
