Chapter II, Section 1: Central beneficial ownership registers – EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1640)

EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1640) 11.3: Obliged entities: use the interconnected beneficial ownership registers in customer due diligence

What does 11.3 require?

When carrying out customer due diligence under Chapter III of the AML Regulation, obliged entities must have timely access to the information in the interconnected central registers; a Member State may charge them a fee limited to the cost of keeping the information accurate and making it available, set so as not to undermine effective access. Competent authorities, self-regulatory bodies, tax and sanctions authorities, AMLA, EPPO, OLAF, Europol and Eurojust have immediate, unfiltered, direct and free access without alerting the entity concerned.
