EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1640)
Chapter II, Section 1: Central beneficial ownership registers – EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1640)

EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1640) 10.7: Register entities: verify beneficial ownership information on submission and regularly, with automated cross-checks

What does 10.7 require?

The entity in charge of a central register must check, within a reasonable time after submission and regularly afterwards, that beneficial ownership information is adequate, accurate and up to date, with the depth and frequency of checks tied to the risks of each category of legal entity or arrangement, and must have automated mechanisms to compare register data with other sources. Where a check on submission reveals inconsistencies or errors it may withhold or refuse a certificate of proof of registration; where a later check shows the information is no longer adequate, accurate and current it may suspend the certificate until the information is put right, except for typographical errors, transliteration differences and minor inaccuracies that do not affect identification of the beneficial owners or their interest.
