EPA RCRA Hazardous Waste Management 273-SubpartD: Part 273 Subpart D: Standards for universal waste transporters

Universal waste transporters must not dispose of, dilute or treat universal waste except when responding to releases (273.51); must comply with DOT hazardous materials rules for any universal waste that is a hazardous material, without using the "hazardous waste" shipping description because no manifest is required (273.52); may store universal waste at a transfer facility for ten days or less, becoming a handler subject to Subpart B or C if storing longer (273.53); must immediately contain releases and determine whether resulting material is hazardous waste, managing it as a generator if so (273.54); may transport only to a universal waste handler, destination facility or foreign destination, with DOT shipping papers where required (273.55); and follow Part 262 Subpart H for exports (273.56).
